Sad Sunday.

Yesterday was such a sad Sunday.

First, mom and dad took me to church and MADE me play with all of my friends in the nursery.

Then we HAD to go to lunch with all of my favorite people, Uncle Dan and Miss Lindsey, and Aunt Cici, Uncle Kyle, and RaeRae.

Then, mommy and Miss Lindsey DRAGGED me to a cupcake shop.

And to top it all off, I spent an extra long time at home in my favorite toy, the exersaucer!

This is how I felt about my terrible day:

Maybe we should do it again next week!!

Last Week

Last week was a big week for Elliott.

In a matter of a couple of days, he's drastically improved his sitting to where he can sit on his own for longer ... our new record is about 30 seconds!

He also put the finishing touches on arm/hand control! He can now reach for and hold whatever he wants, which typically means dad's glasses, mom's face, or a toy on the exersaucer!

A few samples:

(still working on controlling where said object lands ...):

Here are a few pictures from him being in it over the last week! He LOVES it!

Also, a couple of videos!

First time in the exersaucer:

Is it just me or does he totally say his own name at the 1:50 mark in this one?

March 8

Last year, on March 8th, Adam and I were sleeping peacefully in a quaint hotel room off the Champs-Elysees in Paris. I know, life is rough!

I woke up around 4am having to go the bathroom. We had been talking about possibly taking a pregnancy test in the coming days, so I decided on a whim to go for it in the wee hours of the morning. If it was negative, no big deal. If it was positive, I was just going to leave it out for Adam to find when he woke up in a few hours.

I took the test ... checked it ... and saw nothing. No big deal, excited to climb back into warm bed, one more glance before I exit the bathroom and ... wait. Is that a pink line? Maybe I'm just seeing double from the control line. Yes? No? Maybe?

After about 5 more minutes of staring, I concluded that I thought I actually was seeing something. Wow. Big wow. So should I leave it out for Adam to find? But what if he thinks its negative ... that's confusing.

I crawl back into bed "silently" so as not to wake Adam, contemplating what to do.

"What were you doing in there?" he asks. Of course, I am convinced that I've been quiet as a mouse the whole time, but apparently not.

"Um, nothing."

"What were you doing? Why did that take so long?" My brilliant plan is foiled. And I'm REALLY bad at keeping (my own) secrets.

"Um ... taking a pregnancy test," I say in the darkness.

"And...?"

"Um ... I think we're going to have a baby. I think."

So, he gets up to take a look and although skeptical, he finally agrees to seeing a second pink line. And we are officially headed down the 9 month road!

The morning of March 8 ... just a few hours after finding out our big news!:

We were in Paris with our good friends Ryan and Brittany. We couldn't help but share with them, and Ryan's priceless reaction in the Metro station turned the heads of about 50 Parisians laughing at the crazy Americans!

Me (about 4 weeks!) and Brit (about 5 months with Reese!):

We returned to the states the following week and had so much fun surprising our family and friends with the news!

Such fun memories and what a crazy year it has been since that day. We are so blessed!

Hair Guide

Navigating the jungle of Elliott's hip hairstyle can be quite difficult, so we thought we'd provide a little guide to help:

A: Baby rattail
B: Rubbed off bald strip
C: Original hair (darker on the ends, lighter on the roots aka reverse highlights ... see also exhibit E/F)
D: WHAT!?!?

E: Darker Ends
F: Light Roots

A+B+C+D+E+F = SO AWESOME!

Dirt? A bruise? A burn?

Last week, I was playing with Elliott when I noticed something on his arm ...

How did he get such a patch of dirt on his arm? No ... I don't think it's dirt.

A bruise? No, too red-ish.

It looks just like a burn. How in the world did he get a burn and us not know? Ok, that doesn't make much sense ...

Oh! Ha. Got it ..... Self-imposed arm hickey.

Funny boy!
