The After-Party

So, Elliott had his first ear infection last week, and at our doctor's appointment, they were concerned that he wasn't gaining enough weight ... I mean, really. Why can't WE have that problem!?!

Anyway, we've been cramming high-calorie food down E left and right trying to fatten him up a bit. As you saw in the Puppy Party post, he didn't love eating his birthday cake. But despite that, I thought I'd try to give him a bite or two of chocolate cake for the calorie value the afternoon after his party.

I started having to shove a bite or two into his mouth to try to show him that it actually was yummy! He's very skeptical of new foods. He finally tasted it, so I gave him his own little fork to try a bite or two, to which he quickly started taking multiple bites!! Apparently he has learned the long-cherished family secret that Lovee's chocolate cake actually tastes better the next day when the icing is good and soaked in ... mmmm...

So I grabbed the video camera, and here's what happened next (sorry its so shaky ... it was just me and E so I was holding him and videoing at the same time):

I figured since he didn't dig in too much the night before, he deserved one let-it-all-loose cake eating session, so putting a piece for him in a bowl on the floor seemed like the next logical step. Good thinking, mom!?!?:

And from here, it just got progressively more out of control. Elliott was coming at me, covered in icing, I was holding our camera and video camera, trying to escape but control him at the same time. And, as you can imagine, cake and icing ended up smeared down the wall, in my office chair, ALL over the floor, and ALL over both of us!!! (Luckily the cameras survived! Priorities!)

I had NO idea how to start to rectify this situation, so the only thing I could think was just to put E and his chunk 'o cake in the tub together ...

Yummmm ... nothing like a chocolatey-water bath to get all clean!
So it was a little crazy but we had fun!!!

Preview: Another good food incident video coming up soon but this time it involves HAM!
